Quality Reports

Acute Myocardial Infarction: Genesis Medical Center Hospitals

A heart attack (also called an AMI or acute myocardial infarction) happens when the arteries leading to the heart become blocked and the blood supply is slowed or stopped. These quality measures show some of the standards of care provided, if appropriate, to someone who has a heart attack. These tables and graphs include six months of data beyond what is available on the CMS Hospital Compare Web site.

Although we lead the nation in our average door to balloon time of 53 minutes, the rest of the measures in this heart attack bundle are equally important in the care of the our heart attack patients, especially arrival and discharge medications. With the preliminary success and increase in core measure compliancy with the Heart Failure Initiative, a similar approach was taken. A similar method of a multi disciplinary, real time auditing process was initiated on the cardiac floors for these measures that patient care staff could impact.
