Patient Satisfaction (HCAHPS): Genesis Medical Center Hospitals

H-CAHPS is Hospital - Consumer Assessment of Health Care Providers and Systems which requires that adult inpatients complete a mailed survey to rate their experiences of hospital care and services. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has developed the HCAHPS survey which is processed by Press Ganey and Associates for Genesis Health System and CMS.  Due to their critical access status, GMC-DeWitt does not participate in this inpatient survey, but does measure the experiences of their emergency patients and outpatients.  GMC-DeWitt has won the Summit Award several times for outstanding patient satisfaction.

The survey responses provide us a tool to learn how we can improve key care experiences for our patients and their families.  We know it is important to focus on positive relationships, communication and service because they improve wellness and the healing process.  The percentage of respondents who score "always" to each group of questions is reported below.
