Quality Reports

Community Acquired Pneumonia: Genesis Medical Center Hospitals

Pneumonia is a serious lung infection that causes difficulty breathing, fever, cough and fatigue. These quality measures show some of the recommended treatments for pneumonia.  These tables and graphs include six months of data beyond what is available on the CMS Hospital Compare Web site.

Many initiatives are underway at Genesis Health System to improve the quality of care for patients with pneumonia.  A team has been formed to address opportunities for improvement.  A routine physician order set for patients with community acquired pneumonia has been developed, and the nursing assessment tools for administering the pneumoccocal vaccines have been improved.  Education about the key indicators for pneumonia has been provided for all clinical staff.  Our goal is to continuously improve our performance in all indicators until we have succeeded in providing the highest quality of care for all of our patients.
