Personal Items

We suggest that patients bring their own clothing (nightgowns or pajamas, bathrobe, underwear, comfortable clothing, sweaters, slippers and shoes), toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, denture cups and adhesives, deodorant, powders, cologne, shampoo, comb, brush, makeup) and special items such as pictures, notepaper, address book, cell phone, favorite books, DVD’s, CD’s, and comfort items. There is a shelf unit in the room to hold personal mementos. Please, nothing may be hung on the walls. The Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House is not responsible for personal items. We ask that no more than $20.00 or other valuables be kept in the patient’s room.

There is a washer and dryer for family use as needed in the laundry room. Patients’ personal laundry may be laundered here as well.

Telephone Use

Each patient room is equipped with a phone. Long distance is not available on these phones without a calling card or credit card.

Pet Visitation

Family and/or visitors are permitted to bring in a special cat or dog pet of the patient’s for short visits. The pet must have papers from a vet certifying that the animal is free of disease and is up to date on immunizations. All pets must be on a leash at all times and are restricted to the patient’s room only in order to safeguard the other patients and visitors. Curbing of the pet is the responsibility of the family/visitor and clean up is requested. The staff appreciates advance notification of a pet.
