Reglan (Metoclopramide)

What Does It Look Like?

How Is It Given?

Intravenous (Vein); Oral (Mouth)

Why Am I Taking It?

Reglan is a medication used to relieve symptoms associated with stomach problems such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, loss of appetite, bloating, and gastric reflux. It is also used to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting.

What Side Effects May Occur?

  • Nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, restlessness, or sleeplessness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
  • Notify your doctor if you experience involuntary movements of the eyes, face or limbs; muscle spasms or trembling of the hands while taking this medication.
  • Also notify your doctor if you notice any personality changes such as depression.
  • If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness.

What If I Miss A Dose?

  • If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
  • Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Storage

  • Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight.
  • Do not store in the bathroom.
  • Do not freeze liquid forms.
