Child Services

Illini realizes that children have special needs. From the colorful rooms to the special play area and bedside toys, Illini's Pediatrics Department is designed to make a child's hospitalization more comfortable.

Staffed by experienced nurses trained in pediatric care, the unit features "crib rooms" for children under age 3 and private rooms for children 3 and up. Parents are encouraged to actively participate in their child's care whenever appropriate. Parents may spend as much time with their child as possible, including rooming in overnight. Sibling visits and other relatives are also welcome.

To help children prepare for an upcoming surgery, the Pediatric staff conducts special pre op tours. The tour helps put children more at ease and better prepares them for their hospital experience.
