Genesis Parish Nurse Training Begins Sept. 12

DAVENPORT, Iowa –  Training to become a nurse in the Genesis Parish Nurse Program will begin Sept. 12.

Parish nurses work or volunteer a few hours each week in a church or community center. They provide care, support and health education in community settings.

"Parish nursing is an exciting calling for nurses who are willing to give their time to care for people and to heal bodies, as well as healing spirits,’’ explained Cinda Hathaway, RN, Health Ministry Coordinator for Genesis At Home. "It is very rewarding work.’’

The five-day preparation course to become a parish nurse will begin Sept. 12 in the conference room at Genesis Medical Park, 2535 Maplecrest Road, Bettendorf. The other course dates will be Sept. 13, Sept. 26-27 and Oct. 11. Classes will meet from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day.

Cost for the class is $90 for Genesis employees and $100 for others.
