Genesis Hosts Humility of Mary Shelter Housewarming Oct. 12

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Genesis Health System is hosting a housewarming and open house for Humility of Mary Shelter from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Genesis volunteers will help host the event and cookies and drinks will be provided.

Humilty of Mary Shelter, the former John Lewis Community Shelter, is located at 1016 W. 5th St. in Davenport.

Humilty of Mary Shelter, Inc., has received more than $250,000 in financial support and commitments from Quad Cities organizations to keep the shelter open for the first year but public support is still needed.

The shelter is accepting housewarming donations of items necessary to run the shelter.  The list of needs include bedding and pillows, personal toiletries, bath towels, cleaning supplies, office supplies and lawn care equipment.

The Humility of Mary Shelter housewarming gift list is registered at Target in Davenport.  A complete list of needs for the shelter is available at the Target store and at www.target.com.

Items purchased for the shelter can be dropped off at the shelter.
