Headache Management Treatment Approach

The Genesis Headache Management Center addresses specific complexities of headache pain, including pain associated with vascular, muscle tension, post-traumatic, migraine an combination headaches. The clinic's goal is to seek non-narcotic treatment options for patients whenever possible.

Treatment Components

The treatment model offers a series of FREE education classes that you must attend prior to your first appointment.

Topics covered include:

• Medical Management of headache
• Pathophysiology of headache
• Non-medical alternatives to headache treatment
• Stress Management

A Headache Center registered nurse will contact you after your referral is received and schedule you for the classes. She will explain the program and obtain some necessary medical information.

Patients undergo an assessment and evaluation by a board-certified neurologist (a doctor who specializes in the brain and spinal cord), registered nurse, advanced registered nurse practitioner, and social worker. The plan of care is determined by this multidisciplinary team and then discussed with the patient.

• Stress Management/Wellness Counseling
• Physical Therapy
• Dietary Counseling
• Acupuncture Referral

What To Expect From Your First Visit

Your initial visit to the Genesis Headache Management Center will last approximately 60 minutes and involve an assessment by all members of the team. They will then discuss with you their recommended plan of care. If you have any questions, please call the Center at 563-421-3555, and ask for the registered nurse. The registered nurse is responsible for answering your questions and coordinating your plan of care.
