Genesis Nurses Recognized As 100 Great Iowa Nurses
DAVENPORT, Iowa – March 4, 2020 – Genesis nurses Jean Hayes, Caitlin Howe and Molly McKnight are among the 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2020. The award recognizes nurses who have made a meaningful and lasting contribution to humanity and to their profession and act as mentors to others.
Jean Hayes RN, MSN, CHCA is Chief Nursing Officer at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.
Caitlin Howe, RN, BSN is an emergency department nurse, Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt.
Molly McKnight, RN, MSN, CNL is supervisor, Medical/Surgical at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.
Each year, the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program asks patients, co-workers, friends, and family members to nominate outstanding nurses for recognition. After undergoing a two-part review process, 100 Great Iowa Nurses are honored at an annual ceremony.
In addition to recognizing outstanding nurses, the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program also provides financial support to nursing students in MSN, DNP, or Ph.D programs. To ensure Iowa offers the best health care possible to its residents, scholarship recipients intend to work in Iowa after graduation.
Since the introduction of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses program in 2005, 127 Genesis nurses have been recognized as 100 Great Iowa Nurses.
This year's 100 Great Iowa Nurses will be recognized on Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m., at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The honorees will gather with families, friends and colleagues, as well as past years' recipients, to be celebrated for their outstanding careers and achievements.
“Genesis nurses continue to be recognized for the excellent care they provide every day,’’ said Charlette Evans, chief nursing officer, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. “We know we have great Genesis nurses and more than 100 have been Great Iowa Nurses. That achievement says a lot not only the quality of care they provide, but the depth of our nursing staff providing excellent care for our patients.’’
In 2005, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport was the first regional hospital to earn Magnet designation, which recognizes the highest standards of nursing care in the United States. Genesis Medical Center has twice received Magnet designation renewals.
Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt is a designated ANCC Pathway to Excellence hospital with two redesignations.
