Cats Leaf No Doubt

Game three of the 2021 Genesis Shootout was another no doubter. Davenport North jumped out to an early lead and held it throughout defeating Geneseo 69-33.

North was led by guard Mike Lowery who threw in 18 points. Fellow guard KJ LaMonte score 12 points.

Bristol Lewis, Leafs forward, provided 17 points for Geneseo.

The North win restored the lead for Iowa in the 2021 Genesis Shootout. Iowa leads 2-1.

Marquez Davis follows quickly in Hill's footsteps, becoming seventh on the Shootout's player-to-head coach list, also at his alma mater. North's new head man is building around three returning regulars -- 6-foot-5 Cade Guinn, fellow senior Mike Lowery and sophomore K.J. LaMonte, the son of Shootout great Kyle LaMonte. Lowery is the Wildcats' only returning All-Mississippi Athletic Conference performer. LaMonte is part of a superb sophomore class building to a big future, with Tre Von Coney, Amari Wright and Chris Moss coming off the bench. Among those receiving current college recruiting attention are Nolan Mosier (football) and George Rucker (soccer). ... Geneseo's best college prospects are starters -- junior Bristol Lewis (basketball) and senior Nathan VanDeWoestyne (football). Lewis has led the Leafs in scoring and assists for the last two seasons. Also looking to give Coach Brad Storm's team a boost is Anthony Pierce, a 4-year varsity player still working his way back from an ACL tear suffered in football last spring. ... DYK: Both schools are founding members of the Shootout. Geneseo is seeking its first win since 2015; North has won its last six appearances. The Wildcats hold a 4-3 edge all-time vs. the Maple Leafs.
