Moline leader Brock Harding might be the biggest college recruit on the floor today. The All-State junior point guard already owns D-1 scholarship offers from Drake, Illinois-Chicago, Southern Illinois, and Colorado State. State title-winning Hall-of-Fame coach Sean Taylor has a wealth of college-ready talent on the Big 6 title favorites, though. Taylor said you should see seniors Rob Pulliam (state high jump champ) and Kyle Taylor, plus junior Grant Welch also playing college sports, too. And don't forget about 6-5 Maddux Dieckman, who played varsity last season as a sophomore, and currently leads Illinois Class 4A's 10th-ranked team in rebounding. ... The nightcap also features the 10th-ranked team in the first Iowa 4A poll. North Scott's top college basketball prospect is 6-10 junior Caden Dewey, but also on the roster the Lancers have senior recruits in football (Oliver Hughes) and baseball (Sam Skarich to Southeastern JUCO). Among other things, veteran coach Shamus Budde also boasts a pair of twins -- the Kilburgs (Cole and Drew) and the Engelkes (Caleb and Eli). ... DYK: The schools are meeting for the fourth time in the last eight Shootouts. North Scott owns a 3-1 edge on Moline, including winning the most-recent meeting in 2018 (59-47).
