Pack the Bus supply drive

"Pack The Bus" Drive Collects Nearly 10,000 Items

Regardless of where they will be learning in the coming school year, area students will be well-supplied. The second annual Genesis Pack the Bus school supply drive collected nearly 10,000 items with an estimated value of nearly $18,000.  Genesis employees volunteered their time to collect the supplies and our community came out strong to support students and families! With more families facing financial challenges due to COVID-19, the need is even greater this year and donations truly make a difference.

"We did amazingly well, considering the circumstances and the financial hardships. We didn't know what to expect but people came through for students," said Shirley Gusta, organizer of the project. "We are truly grateful for the great support.

"I think we're going to want to do it again.'”

Genesis collected supplies at four locations in Davenport, Silvis and Eldridge and the school supplies have been turned over to area school districts. We would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to our donors, volunteers and sponsors (Durham School Services, North Scott Community School District, Staples, U-Haul, and North Scott Foods) for making this wonderful event possible.
