"I love caring for patients with chronic neurological conditions, especially headaches, because I find it very rewarding to help improve their quality of life and help them live better and more productive lives."

In addition to valuing evidence-based medicine, I am a strong believer in the benefits of multi-disciplinary care to optimize patient outcomes. I work hard to provide interventions that will improve symptoms and quality of life, while maintaining respect for the patient's healthcare values and beliefs whenever possible.

Background on Alicia Duyvejonck

Alicia Duyvejonk, DNP, program director of the Genesis Headache Clinic, received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing and doctorate in Nursing Practice degree from The University of Iowa. She began her NP career in outpatient general neurology in 2014 and quickly found her passion in headache medicine. She obtained the Added Qualification in Headache certification through the National Headache Foundation in 2018 and is an active member of the American Headache Society and American Academy of Neurology.

In addition to valuing evidenced-based care, she is a strong advocate for a multi-disciplinary care approach to optimize patient outcomes and works hard to provide interventions that will improve symptoms and quality of life while maintaining respect for the patient's health care values and beliefs whenever possible.

She is passionate about increasing migraine awareness and education and has provided headache education to patients and providers in a variety of settings, including patient support groups, community awareness events, local university lectures, and pharmaceutical-sponsored events. She had been a conference speaker on the topic of headache and related disorders for several professional organizations, including the Quad Cities APN/PA Alliance, the Midwest Cardiovascular Research Foundation and the Iowa Nurse Practitioner Society.
