Much in healthcare is reacting after something that has gone wrong with the patient. I feel we could prevent so many problems (cardiac disease, type II diabetes, falls, etc.) by increasing the activity level of the population. My career allows me to help people move more comfortably, leading to improvements in their total health and higher quality of life in the future.

I try to emphasize a fitness forward approach to healthcare. The human body was designed to move. I was drawn to physical therapy because we are the experts in human movement. Improving movement allows people to get back to the activities they love doing and improves all areas of health. Physical therapy is also one of the few areas of healthcare where you get to see a patient for extended periods of time in a single visit and have multiple visits per week. I don't have to wait weeks for the patient's next follow up to see if my intervention is working because they're scheduled again next week.
