Over the past nine years working as a nurse practitioner, I have learned that in order to be a great provider you have to understand that medicine is both an art and science. I enjoy working with my patients to ensure they obtain exceptional care along with empowering them to feel they have choices to better their health. I strive to make my patients feel comfortable that I am knowledgeable and will provide them with exceptional care.

Provide honest, comprehensive and compassionate care. I treat all of my patients with dignity and provide holistic care. I enjoy collaborating with other providers to ensure optimal care for each one of my patients. I have always been passionate in caring for others. In high school, my grandmother was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and she asked me to assist in caring for her during her last days. In doing this, I knew that if I could care for her, that I could care for many others. This is when I knew I wanted to become a nurse. Upon finishing nursing school, I began my nursing career as a nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics caring primarily for neurosurgical patients. This is where my passion for neuro grew and my dreams of becoming a nurse practitioner started.

Areas Of Interest

I have a passion for spine care. Over the past nine years, I worked in neurosurgery I grew to love seeing patients with spine conditions whether it be cervical, thoracic or lumbar pain with or without radiculopathy. I enjoy seeing the patient for the first encounter, developing differential diagnoses, determining what testing to obtain, therapies/interventions to order and then seeing the patients for follow up care to determine how they are progressing and adjusting care accordingly.

I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three children, who are very active in many different sports and arts. I am an Iowa Hawkeye fan. I enjoy the outdoors -- walking, boating, working in our yard, design and decorating, refinishing furniture, and country music.
