Family with wheelchair.

Wheelchair Clinic

The Wheelchair Mobility and Seating Clinic at MercyOne Genesis provides patients and families access to a variety of mobility and positioning needs. Our team of Physical Therapists, Assistive Technology Professionals (ATP’s) and the physician/practitioner work closely with the patients and families to address their need in one setting.

Wheelchair Clinic Locations

We offer wheelchair clinics weekly at our locations in the Quad-Cities.

Each Wednesday (except the last Wednesday each month) we have a clinic at MercyOne Genesis Devils Glen Physical Therapy in Bettendorf.

The final Wednesday each month we offer the clinic in Illinois at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Physical Therapy.

Program Features

POSTURAL/BALANCE EVALUATION

Evaluation of the client’s posture to identify postural supports and seating systems that the client requires for balance, improved posture, and ultimately advanced function.

PRESSURE MAPPING EVALUATION

Our MercyOne Genesis Wheelchair Clinic has their own pressure mapping system to determine areas of high risk for skin breakdown and recommended seating equipment to minimize and distribute pressure.

MOBILITY EVALUATION

A functional evaluation is initiated to determine the mobility device that might offer each person the greatest level of independence. Client trials of manual, power-assist, scooters, and power wheelchairs are encouraged and arranged between the treating therapist and the ATP. The therapist and ATP will also provide training for the patient and family on proper use of the equipment.
