Same-Day Surgery
MercyOne Genesis offers same-day surgery at our Outpatient Care Centers providing many patients the benefits of state-of-the-art surgery with same-day convenience and cost-effectiveness.

Inpatient Surgical Unit
The inpatient Surgical Unit nursing staff provides 24-hour acute care to surgical patients and their families. Selected areas of concern for the nurses include patient assistance with medication, hygiene, safety, mobility, nutrition, wound management and discharge planning.
Outpatient Care Center
The continuum of care at MercyOne Genesis extends into our Outpatient Care Center. With over 30 private rooms and several recliner areas, the Center handles the pre- and post-operative surgical patients' needs for short stays, with emphasis on patient and family education and discharge planning.

MercyOne Genesis DeWitt Medical Center
Surgical Services at MercyOne Genesis DeWitt Medical Center
A surgical suite is available for inpatient and outpatient surgical services allowing area residents the convenience of staying close to home for their outpatient and short-stay surgical procedures. Experienced surgeons from MercyOne Genesis and surrounding areas perform surgery in Dewitt.
Surgeries include, but are not limited to:
- General Surgeries (hernias, gynecology, gall bladder and intestinal tract, breast diseases and endocrine glands)
- Orthopedic procedures (knee and shoulder arthoscopy, carpal tunnel, hardware removal and ganglion cyst removal on an outpatient basis)
- Gastroenterology (upper and lower endoscopy - upper EGD, colonoscopy)
- Ophthalmologic (cataract surgery) surgeons work directly with local optometrists so diagnosis, surgery, and post-surgical care are provided close to home.

MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center
Surgical Services at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center
Silvis's Surgical Services Department features multiple operating rooms, designed to support today's advanced surgical technology. Specialized equipment for vascular and orthopedic procedures (including total joint replacement), as well as eye surgery is available. The hospital has sophisticated video endoscopy equipment in its gastrointestinal suite. Cardiac catheterization procedures are also available.
A growing number of surgical procedures at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center are being performed on an outpatient basis.
MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center also offers specialized Day Surgery services. A nursing staff knowledgeable in ambulatory procedures coordinates pre-procedure instructions and provides post-op teaching to patients and family members.
