MercyOne Genesis Wound Care

The Genesis Wound & Hyperbaric Institute

Offering excellence in comfort and personalized care

MercyOne Genesis Wound Care is the region's leader in wound care. We are a specialized clinic that has served the community since 2009, providing care that guides the person hand-in-hand through the treatment process.

What makes MercyOne Genesis different

The crucial difference is our specially-trained team of doctors, nurses and health care workers dedicated to the treatment of wounds. All of our physicians are trained in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, which means you're receiving the best care possible.

What wounds we treat

We help people dealing with a variety of different wounds. But here's what we commonly treat:

  • Diabetic wounds
  • Burns
  • Non-healing surgical wounds
  • Venous insufficiency (failure of the veins to adequately circulate blood)
  • Radiation-induced burns or wounds
  • Osteomyelitis (wounds that penetrate to bone)
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Pressure wounds
  • Arterial wounds
  • Follow-up care for more acute wounds
  • Recurrent wounds

Your wound treatment plan

We are proud to be a part of a larger health system. This makes our ability to pull in other forms of care and treatment seamless. Your personalized treatment plan could include the following:

Understanding Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

While the name can sound a little scary, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is actually pretty simple. It is essentially the breathing of 100 percent oxygen at two to three times normal atmospheric pressure, temporarily increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood to promote healing and to fight infection.

While this is happening, the patient is enclosed in a special chamber. The chamber only fits one person and includes a television to help pass the time. The patient is continuously monitored by Certified Hyperbaric Technologists and specially-trained physicians.

Our end goal is to prevent amputations

Approximately 185,000 lower extremity amputations happen on an annual basis in the United States alone. Many of those result from untreated wounds. More than anything our goal is to provide the best care possible to eliminate amputation as a treatment option.
