DAISY Award Winner - August 2021

Congratulations to our August DAISY Award Winner Leanne Nelson, R.N. 

Leanne is a registered nurse in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit at Genesis Medical Center - East Campus. 

Here's what Leanne's nominator had to say about her, "I really don't know where to start except that I have not met many people that are so caring. I was very scared and she took the time to talk to me and calm me down. 

The first night I was there, whenever I opened my eyes it seemed like she was checking on me. She took the time to pat me on the arm and tell me I would get better. She took the time to ask why I took a certain medication, she said even thought its a low dose, she wondered why I needed it. 

I think that is amazing, being so busy but taking the time to care. She always wanted to know if I needed something or help with anything. I've had several operations in the last few years and I can honestly say I have never felt so cared for. You could tell she was very tired but not once did she complain. It was refreshing to see a smile on someone's face. That, in itself, makes you feel better. 

I just hope everyone is as lucky as I was to have a wonderful, kind person like Leanne. I feel I've met a wonderful new friend. Keep up the great work. 

Leanne did so much for me and I don't know what to say. I left the hospital feeling relieved and not afraid. Leanne keep that beautiful smile and brighten everyone's day. You truly are an angel of mercy and a great new friend."
