Pink for the Cure
Pink for the Cure's Mission is to offer hope for the individuals & families facing breast cancer; to inspire them to believe in their ability to unite with strength and laughter, while finding peace through support and awareness.
Pink for the Cure is a committee that was formed in 2011 under the Crossroads Health Foundation with the intent to bring awareness, support and funding for our mission. Pink for the Cure committee is an outward sign of our strength, courage, hope, survival, memories, experiences and support for each other and those that are challenged by breast cancer.
One woman’s DREAM
Sherry Stauffer, a breast cancer survivor started the breast cancer awareness campaign in 2008 after completion of her own treatment and the diagnosis of her sister-in-law, Betsy for the second time. Sensing a void in awareness and education Sherry began a one woman crusade to encourage the hospital along with the community to value the importance of the effects of breast cancer on patients and families. She started simply with a flyer and encouraging others to wear pink for one day. Today, she has astounded the community and hospital with her determination and passion growing this month long campaign that now embraces the strength of pink throughout October and beyond. Sherry urges, “I encourage all women to practice preventative measures including mammograms and self examinations. I want others to extend what I have done beyond themselves with hope and support.”
