Since a young age, I have been taught and internalized that serving those around you is critically important, whoever they may be. Every person, and every life innately matters. I have been given the special opportunity to cultivate an intimate knowledge of surgery. Combining my skills and education with my desire to serve others puts me in a unique position to help patients.

I have always had a fascination with how things work. As a child I would take apart old electronics my family had (boom box, electric razor, VCR, etc.). In high school, I took a small engines mechanic course to further develop this interest, and in college, learned to apply that to the human body through an anatomy and physiology course. With this interest in fixing things and the human body in particular, I knew that heading into the medical field was the only choice for me. Pursuing that interest through medical school brought me to surgery, where I am honored to concentrate my interests on restoring the human body to a function as optimally as possible. Now having completed my surgical training, my personal philosophy of care centers on the importance of being patient-centered. Each person comes from a set of experiences, values, and perceptions that are uniquely their own and shapes both their healthcare choices and outcomes. As a surgeon, I see my job as leveraging my training and skills to provide all the knowledge and options that my patients need to guide them in identifying the best path forward for themselves.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and moved to the US for college.

During my undergrad years I met my wife, Jacquie, while volunteering for a non-profit organization she ran in Uganda. Shortly thereafter, we decided to get married and continue our journey together. We have since added to our family and have four children.

When not working, I love spending time with my family. We enjoy outdoor activities including biking, going on walks, boating, fishing, and playing boardgames and video games. I have always had a fascination with the universe and am an amateur astrophotographer. I also enjoy BBQing and smoking meats.
