Interpreter Services

MercyOne Genesis provides medical interpretation for all patients and primary caregivers at no cost. We partner with community resources to provide live interpreting, video remote interpreting (VRI), and over-the-phone interpreting to our limited English proficiency (LEP) and hard of hearing patients. Although these patients may be able to communicate with us, it is important to us that they receive their medical information in their primary language. This is to ensure understanding between our staff and the patient/caregiver so we can provide the patient with safe, quality care.

VRI provides on-demand video services for over 40 languages, including American Sign Language (ASL) and is continuing to grow. This exciting technology will help us meet the unique needs of our LEP patients and primary caregivers. Telephone interpreting provides an additional level of availability to interpreters for over 240 languages. These additional methods of interpreting allow us to deliver care to patients when and where they need it.

Many documents and forms are also available in additional languages, including, but not limited to, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and Burmese.

If a patient requires or would like interpreter service, please let any MercyOne Genesis employee know and we will make the necessary arrangements. MercyOne Genesis staff may also request an interpreter be used to ensure understanding in their communication with patients and/or caregivers.
