Diabetes Nutrition
Following a meal plan for diabetes is one of the cornerstones of diabetes management. There are several types of plans one can follow. It is best to work with a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator to be able to address your particular needs. How to connect with a dietitian or our diabetes care centers are listed below. One of the simplest meal plans is to use carbohydrate counting.

Medical Nutrition Therapy (Diet) is recommended for the treatment of diabetes by the American Diabetes Association in addition to the following:
- If overweight encourage modest weight loss 7% to reduce insulin resistance while incorporating approved physical activity 150 min per week, and behavior modification (p. S5).
- "Monitoring carbohydrate" is an important strategy along with a diet high in fiber and low in fat. (p. S5).
